I’ve loved writing ever since I was old enough to understand the written word. And even through my journey to publishing, I’ve never compromised on my one core principle: that my vision and my love for writing has to drive everything I do.
I write because I have stories I want to read. If you like them too? Great! If not, then we’re all entitled to consume the content we like. I put my work out there to see if anybody else could possibly find and fall in love with it. (And to be able to brag that I’m a published author, of course…)
I went into publishing with the idea that nobody owes me anything; but also, that I don’t owe the world anything in return. So long as I’m not supporting damaging ideals, then I’m not concerned about what people might think. Writing is a personal endeavor, after all—and too much of life is already spent concerned about other people’s approval.
